Very deep dark cherry color with purple edges. Powerful aromas of wild ripe red fruits, such as cranberry, strawberries, blackberry. The wood is in a background as complement without being dominant. The attack is opulent without being aggressive, great palate and persistent tannic finish in the mouth. In this stage we find the same range of aromas as on the nose. With Pintia we do our best to respect the aromas which remind us from where the wine comes: the grape.

Bodegas Pintia is owned by Vega Sicilia. Pintia is located further west along the Duero River inside the warmer D.O. of Toro. The estate owns 96 hectares of land. The first vintage released was the 2001. As for the 2005 Pintia, it is 100% Tinta de Toro aged for one year in new French and American oak. Opaque purple-colored, it offers a complex perfume of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, black cherry, and blackberry. This leads to a full-bodied, ripe, layered wine with intense flavors, serious complexity, and exceptional length. It has enough structure to unfold for another 4-6 years and drink well through 2025.

Evolution: 2012-2013. Gastronomy: red meats of big cow, big game hunting, stews. Tinta de Toro; fermented in vat, malolactic and 13 months in new cask. A tamed "Toro", but, as Ausás says, the bull has horns: It has the strenght, consistency and character of the area (tannic, mineral, limited in its records), but also refinement in the aromas from the fruit and the aging process and in the sweet palate. Service: 18ºC.
