Orto consists of 4 vine growers and three families coming from El Masroig who follow the traditional way of farming of their parents, grandparents and great grandparents in the cultivation of the vine. In an effort to search their own roots in the winemaking process where each grower produced their... own wine at home, in 2008 they started to make their own wines from the grapes coming from their own vineyards. 'Orto' means the point at which the sun, or any other celestial body crosses the horizon and becomes visible in our hemisphere. It symbolizes, therefore, the birth of a new day. 'Orto' is also a Greek prefix meaning straight, correct, even beautiful. Both definitions clearly reflect the way they understand the world of vines and wine.
