Founded in 1826 by James Henderson, over the time, the distillery changed hands several times and was even closed during difficult times for the industry in 1930. However, over the years, what has endured is the quality of the whiskey, the traditional craft and the location of the... distillery. This distillery has a fascinating story, with exclusive stills that defy all conventions up to date. The first still, in particular, is fascinating due to the absence of the 'swan neck'. As the legend tells when the still was received, it was too high for the distillery so the manager decided to cut the top. The bottle of Old Pulteney now features a bulbous neck reflecting the shape of the stills.
