The Nereus Garnacha Negra 2008 is elaborated with 90% Garnatxa Negra, variety from the Denomination of Origin Emporda area, and 10% de Merlot. Micro recollection by hand. Once recollected, grapes are brought to the winery and are unloaded and processed in small stainless steel tanks of 1500 to 2000 kg (microvinification). The yeasts and best temperature are adapted to each variety. Malolactic fermentation. Minimum clarification and filtration processes, only those necessary to have an adequate wine according to the consumer's needs. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 8 months in American and French oak barrels.
Tasting notes: Purplish red colour. Nose: expressive, perfumed, ripe fruit, mineral, floral and spicy background with hints of black licorice. Palate: good acidity, firm tannins. With structure and presence.
What the critics say...

The 2008 Nereus Garnatxa Negre spent 8 months in French oak. Tasting like a confiture of black cherries, it is a savory, nicely proportioned, medium-long wine.
In 2002, the family Vilarmau Alcácer decides to launch the project of building a winery in the Emporda Denomination of Origin. AV Bodeguers is the name given to the new project. In the beginning, the land purchased to other owners of the area had to be replanted due to low production... and bad quality of the grapes. It was then decided that the best clones of Merlot, Syrah and Grenache Noir should be replanted. The different varieties were carefully chosen so that they adapt perfectly to the area. Besides, an arbor of grapes is installed in the property allowing to maximize the quality of the grapes. Harvesting is done manually using boxes and organising each row carefully.
