The Nereus Barrica 2008 is elaborated with Merlot (50%), Syrah (35%) and Black Grenache (15%). Once recollected, grapes are brought to the winery and are unloaded and processed in small stainless steel tanks of 1.500 to 2.000 kg (microvinification). The yeasts and best temperature adapted to each variety are selected so that the grape’s juice transforms its sugars into alcohol by means of fermentation. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 8 months in new American and French oak barrels. At the end of the aging process the different varieties are blended and bottled. The wine remains in the cellar for at least 4 additional months before it is ready to be drunk.
Tasting notes: Bright red colour. Thick and elegant. Great aromatic intensity. Nose: intense aroma of cherries, plums and blackberries. Light touches of forest herbs and spices with hints of tobacco and cocoa. Palate: well structured, balanced, tasty, rich, broad, dense. Mineral wine with fresh acidity sensation combined with well polished tannins. Nice long aftertaste with complex feelings. A strong Mediterranean accent base.

The 2008 Nereus Barrica, a blend of 50% Merlot, 35% Syrah, and 15% Garnacha was aged for 8 months in French and American oak. Smoky black fruits, lavender, and spice box aromas inform the nose of this supple, easy-going, ripe offering.
In 2002, the family Vilarmau Alcácer decides to launch the project of building a winery in the Emporda Denomination of Origin. AV Bodeguers is the name given to the new project. In the beginning, the land purchased to other owners of the area had to be replanted due to low production... and bad quality of the grapes. It was then decided that the best clones of Merlot, Syrah and Grenache Noir should be replanted. The different varieties were carefully chosen so that they adapt perfectly to the area. Besides, an arbor of grapes is installed in the property allowing to maximize the quality of the grapes. Harvesting is done manually using boxes and organising each row carefully.
