The "Marqués de Valdueza" red wine is the end result of blending the different grape varieties in our vineyard: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syraz. It is unique red wine with its own character and is the result of the best that each of our varieties has to offer, our working methods and the expertise of our oenologist, Dr. Dominique Roujou de Boubée. The proportions used each year in our blend will vary according to the final characteristics or each vintage.
Here on our Perales de Valdueza estate, which has been in the hands of the Álvarez de Toledo family for generations and is located close to Mérida, in Extremadura, in Western Spain, our aim is to continue the tradition of olive and wingrowing culture, as in ancient Roman times. In... order to express the 'terroir' that we have inherited in the best way possible, between 2002 and 2003 a 40-hectare vineyard was planted in which the Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties can now be found.
