The 2004 Laurona is composed of 50% Grenache, 25% Merlot, 15% Syrah, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Inky purple-colored, it offers an expressive nose of toasty oak, spice box, black cherry, black raspberry, and black currant. This leads to a medium to full-bodied wine with loads of sweet fruit, excellent concentration and depth, and a firm structure. It will evolve for 3-4 years and drink well through 2020.

In 1999 was born Laurona created by René Barbier (Clos Mogador) and Christopher Cannan (Europvin). Located in Falset, Tarragona, and nowadays assigned to the Montsant D.O., Laurona has had a great international recognition thanks to its wines Laurona and 6 Vinyes of Laurona. The name of... the winery comes from a vineyard which existed in Tarraco's former Roman city, and which was producing wines of great quality. The high quality of these wines has not passed unnoticed for the wine critics, and already in 2002 the magazine Wine Spectator included Laurona in the Top 100 of the best wines of the world.
