The Hacienda Monasterio Crianza 2006 was aged 18 months in "Allier" French oak casks.
Very dark intense red color, very ripe aromas with licorice and eucalyptus touches. The entry in the mouth is silky but its power and youth enhance tannins. Very long finish, very powerful with a noticeable powerful set. It is a very balanced wine with a great aging potential in bottle.
What the critics say...
Robert Parker: 93 points(01/06/2010)
The 2006 Crianza is a bit more structured than the previous wines. Aromatically, it displays creme de cassis, mineral, spice box, and black cherry. Savory, balanced, and intensely flavored, it has enough structure to evolve for several more years and should drink well through 2026.
Pairing: Aged Cheese, Game Animals, Grilled Red Meats, Legume, Roasts, Stews.
