Sequé 2009 is made ??from 100% Monastrell. Old vineyards aged 50-60, with low production, graveled land covered with lime (which gives salinity), calcareous subsoil. Manual harvest. Aging during 12 months in French oak barrels.
Tasting notes: Cherry red colour, purple rim. On nose, Mediterranean expression, scents of aromatic herbs and wood herbs, ripe fruit and toffee with menthol hints. On the palate, creamy, silky, round, soft, balsamic, fruit yoghurt, good acidity. Fresh final with reminiscences of after eight.

Bodegas y Viñedos el Sequé (Laderas de Pinoso) belongs to the Artadi group and it is the elegant expression of Monastrell. It is situated at Alicante, that is a historic wine making region. The numerous references and historical traces that Phoenicians and the Romans have left, make... us realise the importance of the wine-making tradition in this area.
Artadi acquired the property in 1999, keenly motivated to create and produce wines with a historical content and full of authenticity and personality. At El Sequé, they enjoy their own determinated and definitive microclimate, soil, vineyard, variety, millennial tradition and well defined ecosystem, conditions which perfectly define the concept of 'Terroir'. They work with forty hectares planted in brown-limestone soils, which are poor in clay and hummus; it is a perfect combination to produce high quality wines. Monastrell represents 80% of their production; this variety provides their wines with a large range of ripe fruits and hints of Mediterranean forest. The balance of their vineyards is made up with 20% Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. They produce mature and voluptuous wines, wich are characterised by the disparate climate and aromatic freshness with hints of balsam, typical of a Mediterranean climate.
