Castro de Valtuille Mencía Joven 2008 is made from Mencía 100%. Vineyards located at a height of 1750-2198ft (500-628m) above sea level. Aging in excellent French oak barrels.
Tasting notes: Cherry red colour with violet rim. On nose, fresh scents of roses, red fruit, black olives, coffee; smoky and balsamic. On palate, sweet, intense, fresh, with an optimum acidity. Fruity final.
Bodegas y Viñedos Castro Ventosa is a family winery located in Valtuille de Abajo, in the region of Bierzo. The Perez family together with the famous winemaker Raul Perez as the head, is the founder and owner of this winery. This family counts with one century-old tradition in... growing grapes - since 1752-. The vineyard is located on the slopes of the village of Valtuille de Abajo. About 300 plots are settled in different lands and different orientations ensuring thus the diversity of wines. About 80% of the vineyard, about 60 hectares is over 50 years. This underground winery with a circular concrete floor guarantees thus all the preservation conditions required for barrels and wines.
