One can appreciate all the subtlety and elegance of the Mencía grape. Visually it is an attractive cherry red colour, with violet tones around the rim. In the nose it offers strong fruity aromas of raspberries and cherries, as well as flowery hints of violet, which form a harmonious ensemble with the wood with hints of liquorice, chocolate, toffee, vanilla, and spices. In the mouth it is smooth, full bodied, and elegant, with the characteristic traits of the Mencía grape blended with the toasted flavours of the oak casks noticeable in the retro-olfaction. It has a long and smooth finish. We recommend serving at 18ºC in a fine large round glass.

The vineyards occupy around 4,200 hectares of homogenous plots, most of which are found in the lower areas and hillside.
The depression, close to 400 metres in altitude, presents a basically plain relief which corresponds to the fosilized levels of the water terraces of the Sil river and its streams which cross and drain the area. The edges of the depression are very auckward, where the vineyards reach altitude close to 800 metres.
Out of the cultivated grape varieties, the Tinta Mencia occupies an outstanding position, both for its quality and its extension, followed by the Garnacha Tintorera and the white Palomino, Doña Blanca, Malvasia and Godello.
White, rose and red wines of marked personality are produced.
The Mencia reds, although young, are fruity and very tasty. Once they reach the required ageing, they acquire an elegant and complex bouquet, keeping their personal and fruity character. On mouth they are remarkably balanced and smooth apart from showing great personality.
