The Coto Crianza 2008 is made from 100% Tempranillo, mostly from the Rioja Alavesa region. Fermentation in vats equipped with the latest technology for rigorous temperature control. This achieves an appropriate balance between structure and balance. Minimum aging of 12 months in selected American oak barrels, and at least 6 months in bottle before leaving the warehouse.
Tasting notes: Bright cherry color with garnet rim. Aromas of ripe fruit, vanilla and toasted oak. The palate is spicy, tasty and persistent.
It is in Oyón (Alava), and occupies a total surface of 110.000 m2, 50.000 m2 of them are built-up. The vineyard is situated in Cenicero (Rioja Alta), near the Najerilla river, orientated to the Northwest, and on predominantly clayey soil. The rest of the grape comes from selected vine-growers... from Rioja Alavesa. All the grapes are elaborated by control of temperature in stainless steel tanks. Nowadays there are elaborated 23 millions of kg of grape / year. For aging their red wines they count with 78.000 (80%) American oak casks and (20%)French oak, of 225 liters of capacity. The average useful life of every cask is 4,9 years from the date of manufacture. These casks are keep in mint condition due to the fact that they are washed and transported automatically. No one touches the floor in all its useful life. The dependences possess an automatic control of temperature and dampness, looking after the aging and ripeness, are carried out in the best conditions. Nowadays 6.000.000 millions of red wine bottles are aging in the cellars.
