The Coto Crianza 2007 is elaborated with 100% Tempranillo from the three sub zones of the Rioja region: Baja, Alta and Alavesa. Aged for a minimum of 12 months in selected 225 litre American oak barrels and at least 6 months in the bottle before release by the wine cellar. The 2007 harvest has been classified as Very Good and can be described as having a good balance between its levels of acidity, sugar concentration and colour, making it suit for cask-ageing. Staggered, selective harvesting, without excessive quantities of grapes.
Tasting notes: Ruby-red colour. Nose: fresh fruit aromas together with typical liquorice aromas from the oak. Hints of vanilla. Palate: good balance. Silky, velvety with good intensity.

The 2007 El Coto Crianza spent 14 months in American oak barriques, a small percentage new. Made from 100% Tempranillo, it is a slightly restrained, moderately concentrated Crianza that gives up pleasing aromas and flavors of smoke, spice box, violets, and black cherry. It has enough structure and balance to drink well for at least 5 additional years and is a very good value in traditionally styled Rioja.

It is in Oyón (Alava), and occupies a total surface of 110.000 m2, 50.000 m2 of them are built-up. The vineyard is situated in Cenicero (Rioja Alta), near the Najerilla river, orientated to the Northwest, and on predominantly clayey soil. The rest of the grape comes from selected vine-growers... from Rioja Alavesa. All the grapes are elaborated by control of temperature in stainless steel tanks. Nowadays there are elaborated 23 millions of kg of grape / year. For aging their red wines they count with 78.000 (80%) American oak casks and (20%)French oak, of 225 liters of capacity. The average useful life of every cask is 4,9 years from the date of manufacture. These casks are keep in mint condition due to the fact that they are washed and transported automatically. No one touches the floor in all its useful life. The dependences possess an automatic control of temperature and dampness, looking after the aging and ripeness, are carried out in the best conditions. Nowadays 6.000.000 millions of red wine bottles are aging in the cellars.
