The purple-colored 2004 Clos de l’Obac exhibits a beautiful perfume of spice box, mineral, kirsch, red and black currants, and black cherry. Intensely fruity on the palate, it is already complex, sweet, and layered. The oak, tannin, and acidity are nicely integrated and the finish is long and pure. Give this stylish wine 3-5 years of cellaring and drink it through 2022.
Pairing: Aged Cheese, Game Animals, Grilled Red Meats, Legume, Roasts, Stews.
Established in 1987 by Carles Pastrana and Mariona Jarque, though the project dates back to 1979. It was a commitment to recover the millenary wine-growing tradition of the area, this is why along with the tempranillo, garnacha and cariñena old vineyards they planted new varieties as the... cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah, cultivated all of them under a strict criterion of quality with the aim to extract the most genuine of the fruit. They have also rehabilitated the architectural set that composes the former Mas D'en Bruno estate, which was established in the 13th century. Their wines have a recognized national and international prestige, and they are considered to be among the best wines of the world.
