Dark cherry red of high robe. On the nose it is intense and elegant, with black and red fruits, cocoa, eucalyptus, and mineral notes. In the mouth it is complex, confirming nasal notes. Great palate and persistence.
What the critics say...
Robert Parker: 91 points(01/06/2001)
The 1998 Clos Martinet boasts a dense purple color, and a huge nose of liquid minerals, blackberry liqueur, and cassis. Full-bodied and unctuously-textured with terrific presence on the palate, this large-scaled effort is never heavy or overbearing. Sweet tannin in the finish suggests 2-3 years of cellaring will be beneficial, but readers can drink it now as well as over the next 12-18 years.
Pairing: Aged Cheese, Game Animals, Grilled Red Meats, Legume, Roasts, Stews.
