During the winter 2002 the weather was dry and cold. February and March were warm and the bud burst started end of March. The flowering developed in unfavourable conditions end of May beginning of June: coulure and millerandage were important for the cabernet sauvignon and merlot grapes incuring a substantial loss in production. A very special care was given to the vines to perform a selected green harvest. This meticulous work consisted of removing the bunches with undeveloped grape berries or grape berries which matured late. In Summer time the weather conditions until the first 10 days of September, like in 2001, delayed the beginning of the picking. Hopefully, in September the good weather conditions helped the berries to get a natural concentration.
