What the critics say...
Wine Spectator: 91 points(01/02/2012)
Cherry, pomegranate, mountain herb and smoke notes mingle in this expressive red. There's a gentle texture, yet well-integrated tannins provide structure and bright acidity enlivens the floral finish. Mazuelo, Syrah and Garnacha. Drink now through 2015.
Robert Parker: 90 points(01/05/2011)
The 2009 Can Blau is made up of 40% Carinena, 40% Syrah, and 20% Garnacha aged for 12 months in French oak. Wood smoke, spice box, incense, lavender, black cherry and plum aromas are followed by a mouth-filling, round, dense wine with outstanding grip and length. It over-delivers in a big way. Drink it over the next 6-8 years.
Peñin Guide: 89 points(01/01/2012)
Intense cherry red colour, garnet rim. On nose, spicy, toasty, wild herbs, carpentry. On palate, tasty, fruity, structured, lingering.
Pairing: Aged Cheese, Game Animals, Grilled Red Meats, Legume, Roasts, Stews.
Cellers Can Blau was founded in 2003. The wines produced by this winery belong to Montsant Denomination of Origin which is a denomination of origin whose possibilities have not been shown yet. In opposition to its neighbouring Priorat, in Montsant one can work with characteristic varieties planted... in soils of different composition. This project is directed by the winemaker Nuria Sarroca.
