Balandra 2007 is made from 40% old Garnacha coming from 50 year old vines, 40% old Cariñena coming from 50 year old vines and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The name of "Balandra" (Sloop) is originated from the very name of the winery owner's house and the street where it is located in the town of Torroja of the Priorat. Balandra is a derivation of the word meaning the habit that the Carthusian monks -old residents of the Cellar- during the XVI century.
Ageing for 12 months in new American oak casks (Tenesse’s fine grain) and a minimum of 6 months resting in bottle in the bottle holder.
The result is a wine with a lot of body, but elegant and subtle at the same time.
Dark cherry colour.
Nose: pepper and woods aromas.
Palate: silky in mouth with a great potential.
