What the critics say...
Robert Parker: 90 points(01/04/2010)
The 2007 Ambos is purple-colored with a reticent bouquet that with coaxing, surrenders aromas of Asian spices, incense, earth/mineral, black cherry, and a hint of menthol. Medium- to full-bodied, on the palate it has excellent concentration, mouth-filling savory fruit, and enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years. Its drinking window will extend from 2013 to 2022.
Pairing: Aged Cheese, Game Animals, Grilled Red Meats, Legume, Roasts, Stews.
Was founded from the friendship shared between two friends and students of the wine industry at the time. Ada Prada Amigo and Ricardo Sanz decided to mix their knowledge and found, in 2004 this new society. After having managed the technical part (grape growing and wine production) in... numerous wine cellars around all Spain, Ada and Richard were ventured in a new project; in the own wine elaboration under the Denomination of Bierzo Origin. The chosen variety was Mencía from 55 years old vineyards and, for their sparkling wine, the Godello grape variety was used. That is how this wine has become the first Godello´s Sparkling wine of this region, Castilla y León. The viticulture frame is supported with 50 hectares of vineyard. These two wine-makers have decided to practice the well-known philosophy like ´title separation´. All the vineyards are managed personally taking care of ecological grape growing. Located to the Northwest of the Province of Leon, the Bierzo area has a special microclimate where the humidity and the Castilian dry climate are intermingled causing an excellent hydric balance for the grapes. The soils are made of limestone and mineral slate grounds and - muddy they are the outstanding in this zone.
