Ruby red with violet undertones, very clean. Like the previous vintage and common factors, a wine in pure condition. Nothing prevailed over anything, important presence of fruit. Continues the elegant style of the Alion . Powerful entrance, full palate with fruit and wood integrated. Very persistent finish.

While 2002 was a lesser vintage, you would never know it from tasting the 2002 Alion. Saturated purple in color, it offers up an exotic nose of coconut, espresso, herbs, black currants and cherries. Rich and complex on the palate with lots of glycerin and layers of black fruit flavors, it has a pure, long finish that goes on and on.

Evolution: 2010-2012. Gastronomy: Castilian roasts (kid, sucking-pig), lamb stew. Tinto Fino; fermentation in oak vat, 14 months in new cask. In the crop of the heat it offers freshness, without the heavy notes so much abundant in this vintage. Plenty of fruit and complex spicy notes of well developed wine. Lively palate and very rounded, with great balance. Service: 18ºC.
Pairing: Beef, Game Animals, Grilled Red Meats, Roasts, Stews.
The Alión story began in 1986, when the Álvarez family decided to create a winery which, with its own vineyards, was to produce a wine with a philosophy and an identity different and independent from that of Bodegas Vega Sicilia. Thus, the possibility of making the wine in the Vega Sicilia... installations was discarded. The Álvarez did not wish to create a brand that might be considered as a second wine from the mythical name.
Bodegas Liceo, a company founded in 1990 and located in Peñafiel (Valladolid), had all the technological requirements sought by Vega Sicilia. After lengthy conversations, the Álvarez family acquired the winery on 5th November 1992. 1995 saw the appearance of the first Alión wine of the 1991 harvest, and its high quality makes it into the Top 100 of the prestigious Wine Spectator magazine.
