In August 2006, Francesc Grimalt and Sergio Caballero created in Mallorca '4Kilos Wine', a company dedicated to producing wines with a new focus and a different presentation. Francesc Grimalt, winemaker and former partner of the winery Anima Negra Mallorca is known for his role in the rescue... of the local variety of grape Callet. Sergio Caballero is a musician, founding member and co-director of the festival of music and multimedia art SONAR. In late September 2006, they elaborated in the garage of a vine grower friend with few resources but with great grapes, their first wine, '4Kilos 2006'. In 2007 with the help of Apolónia Viticultors (agrarian society in Baleares) they reconverted an old sheep stable into a small cellar. They elaborated the harvest of '4Kilos 2007' and his new project: '12Volts 2007'. The name '4Kilos' (4 million pesetas) comes from the investment made by the two partners. A modest investment in this sector, proving that a good wine does not depend on a large financial outlay but on the ambition for quality and passion of a good product.
